Abstract

|
A retrospective analysis of bone scan was made in the patients with a metastatic bone disease. Bone scans were performed with planar imaging of the entire body in addition to focal spot views. Cancer diagnoses included 321 lung. 99 breast. 39
prostate,
35stomach, 26 liver, 23 each of bladder and esophagus, 17 kidney, 14 rectum and 7 each of thyroid and colon(total: 611).
Criteria of positive bone scan were multiple skeletal hot uptakes with irregularity and rapid changes during follow-up. If there was single hot activity, follow-up bone scan and regional radiography were used to make a diagnosis. Overall positive
rate
of bone scan in this study was 26%(158/611). Bone scan is a sensitive and noninvasive technique to detect the metastatic bone disease.
